Course Cancellation Policy Reminder:
- If a student notifies us at least 72 hours prior to the start of their course, the student may cancel for a full refund or reschedule to an alternate available course date with no rescheduling fee.
- If a student notifies us between 24 and 72 hours prior to the start of their course, no refund will be issued, but the student may reschedule to an alternate available course date by paying a $15 rescheduling fee.
- If a student notifies us less than 24 hours prior to the start of their course, or fails to attend their course, no refund will be issued, and the student may not reschedule to an alternate available course date without paying the full registration fee again.
Course Information
Our Carbine Level 2 courses focus on utilization of modern rifle platforms (AR/AK) as a primary and handguns as a secondary.
Carbine Level 2; Our level 2 carbine course provides a deep dive the carbine as a primary weapon system, with a handgun as a secondary weapon. We develop an intimate understanding of the the fundamentals, correct levels of input in the rifle mount, reload/malfunction drills, transitioning to/from the handgun, moving while shooting, blending speed and accuracy, utilization of cover and concealment, and introduction to competitive stage shooting.

- Note taking material -optional-
- Eye / Hearing Protection (Electronic Hearing Protection strongly encouraged)
- Semi-Auto Handgun of 9mm or greater caliber (No revolvers)
- OWB/IWB/AIWB rigid holster – Concealed carry, battle belt, or competition belts are all welcome (Purses, Cross-Draw and Small-of-Back rigs ARE NOT permissible)
- Carbine style rifle of 223/556 or greater caliber (AR pattern recommended)
- Sling for carbine
- Weapon Mounted Light REQUIRED for carbine AND handgun
- At least 3 pistol mags and 1 pistol mag carrier
- At least 3 carbine mags and 1 carbine mag carrier
- Dump pouch recommended
- 1000 rounds of target ammunition for carbine and 200 rounds of target ammo for pistol (no steel core)
- Water / snacks / bag lunch for each training day
- Sunscreen and weather appropriate attire for outdoor private range.

Our Instructors

Director of Training – Michael Maurer has been a member of the Tucson shooting community since 2015, starting as a student at Diamondback Training Center. His passion for firearms drew him to the practical shooting sports where he found his love for competitive pistol shooting. Mike is a Master class Carry Optics shooter in the International Defensive Pistol Association and regularly travels for competition and training events. He has studied under national trainers to include Drew Estell, JJ Racaza, Scott Jedlinski, Fabio Spinella, Gabe White, Nick Young, Tim Herron, AJ Zito, Ernest Langdon, and Rick Crawley. Mike’s passion for sport shooting drives him to constantly train and seek new ways to improve his skills. He brings that passion to his instruction as well, blending his patient, calm demeanor to help students bridge the gap between their current skills and their goals as shooters.
